Need to illuminate a playing field, tennis or basketball courts, an ice rink, or maybe a parking lot for those types of facilities? Sports light poles are the way to go.
Here are some of the basics you’ll need to know about sports light poles.
How tall can you go? We catalog mounting heights from 50 to 90 feet in both anchor-based and embedded sports poles, but have built poles up to 110 feet tall.
We’ll show you how it’s done. We provide detailed installation instructions for 2- to 3-piece and embedded poles.
Styling options: We offer a variety of bracketry for sport poles, including:
• Platform brackets
• Top-mounted brackets
• Side-mounted cross-arm brackets
Know Your Stuff
Before choosing the height of your sports poles, we recommend calculating the Effective Projected Area requirements for the loading on the pole. This is the part of the pole that’s loaded by the wind. You then want to ensure that the selected pole can accommodate the loading — this information is located within the cut-sheet specs for each pole. Finishing Touches
All United Lighting Standards’ sports poles feature a galvanized finish. Galvanization is the process of coating steel with a thin layer of zinc. Once hardened, the zinc carbonate is dull gray and protects the pole from corrosion when exposed to the natural elements. Learn more about our finishes here.
