Achieving Perfection: How We Prevent Welding Defects

To some, perfection is hitting all green lights on your way to work or finding the grocery cart without the squeaky wheel.

But to the team at United Lighting Standards, perfection means making sure our customers get the quality lighting support products they’re looking for.

So, how do we do it? We’re so glad you asked.

We Have High Standards

At United Lighting Standards, we adhere to the American Welding Society Standards: AWS D1.1 for steel poles and AWS D1.2 for aluminum poles. Both cover four main areas: material and design, fabrication, inspection and qualification.

We’re also certified by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) — certifications our team has secured by completing rigorous written and practical exams.

We Know Our Stuff

All of our welding candidates are thoroughly vetted and tested prior to becoming a member of our team. And, once they join our team, they have access to on-going educational opportunities with our partners at Macomb Community College’s Applied Science Department.

To make sure all poles that leave our facility are up to our standards, we’re focused on bringing rigor and continuous improvement to all of our quality control processes.

Ready for high-quality, defect-free poles? Tell us about your next project.
